Men Are From Mars

"I'm in love," he said. "This girl is... something. She's special."
I nodded. Waited for more explanation.
"We had sex for 14 hours."

Oh. O-k then. Good sex = in love.

Minutes later he and another bloke were in deep conversation. The topic? The best pair of breasts he has ever seen. Big is not only the criteria, apparently, although it is the most important one. Their eyes were wandering around the bar. To be precise, wandering from one pair of boobs to another.

I stirred my glass. I couldn't explain how I felt. Partly I was amused they thought they could talk about this freely in front of me. Party I was annoyed by the lack of respect they showed to women in general.

The same guy took several blokes to celebrate their night. They stopped by to meet us in Cazbar. Suddenly the door swung open and two girls entered. One directly went to him, who was standing in front of us. She was whispering something I didn't bother to eavesdrop, but my girlfriend who was sitting next to me heard it and looked at me in disbelief. Both of us exchanged annoyed looks and moved inches away from these two girls like they were carrying some disease. After thirty seconds he took some money out of his wallet and gave it to the girls. My friend and I rolled our eyes. The two girls left after receiving two 50,000 notes.

But one came back twenty minutes later. Directly went to him and they sat down with their backs facing us, ignoring the entire world.

On Monday, we arranged a group dinner, eight of us, so he and another girlfriend could get to know each other. Last night, he took her out for a date after much encouragement from everybody. And tonight, he was with another girl whom he met in a scary bar.

Men are from Mars. For them, sex and relationship are two totally different things, put in two totally different boxes with individual locks. To like one descent girl who potentially can be a girlfriend, take her out to dinner, is nothing to do with bringing home another for one happy ending.

I've known this fact for a long time. But he brings this to a whole new level when he flaunted his one night stand girl right before our eyes. What was he trying to say? Of course, as a single man, he has every right to bring any girl home. But since he liked my girlfriend and has taken her out for date, what he did that night was very disrespectful.

Or is it totally ok to sleep around because he only dated my girlfriend once? What if a guy finds that his date took one bloke home the next day? Would he call her a slut?

T
hey left eventually. They shared a taxi with my friend and her boyfriend. The one night stand girl, introduced herself to my friend, who barely looked at her. She mentioned her name and showed no shame that she was going to a stranger's home for one night stand. She was a lawyer, or it was what she boasted to the blokes before in a scary bar. A lawyer who dressed like a student and needed 50, 000 rupiahs for taxi money.

I didn't stop by the next day to say goodbye to them. I was too tired and too pissed off to be polite.

I apologised to my girlfriend, although it was unnecessary. And I vowed that this would be the first and the last time I ever set them up with guys I know.

He is definitely not a boyfriend material. It's good you and your friend know about this earlier. Sometimes you just can't change a player into a boyfriend.

Sounds like you both had a terrible time.

You should have had a girls night out instead, forget about Martians and their stupid antics and go wild on your last night before heading back to Abbie!!

How's the blog renovation going??

@Rima:

Why, what's wrong with French guys?

akokow said...

well, he's not a man, just a horny boy.

Wow, he sounds like a jerk. My husband has always told me that he felt bad about even kissing a girl unless it was an actual relationship. I have so much respect for him for that!

@Ecky: you were there... :)

@Ivy: believe me guys don't look at this thing the same way as we do.

@Elyani: He isn't a player at all, on the contrary, he is a very shy guy. That's why we didn't understand why he did it.

@Therry: nah, it's ok. It's life, sometimes it doesn't turn out as we plan.

@Rima: nope. And I thought French are more subtle (in dumping girls?) LOL.

@Akokow: I wouldn't care if only he didn't take my girlfriend out the night before.

@Melbel: there was definitely more than just kissing that night! Thanks for stopping by :)
